In the reliability validation of electronic components, automotive electronics, and military-grade equipment, the IEC 60068-2-38 wet cold freezing test (also referred to as a temperature and humidity combined cyclic test) is a widely adopted environmental testing standard. It is designed to evaluate the resistance of test specimens to degradation under alternating high temperature/high humidity and low-temperature conditions, particularly for electronic and electromechanical components.

To accurately implement the IEC 60068-2-38 test requirements, AGREE Test Chamber with high stability and precise temperature and humidity control is essential.

The IEC 60068-2-38 standard defines a cyclic environmental stress profile that simulates the so-called “breathing effect” in products. During temperature transitions, internal air expands and contracts, driving moisture into microscopic gaps and interfaces. When the temperature drops, the trapped moisture may freeze and expand, leading to crack propagation and accelerated material degradation. This mechanism does not rely on direct moisture absorption but instead uses thermal cycling to induce moisture penetration, placing significant stress on seals, gaskets, and structural joints.

SONACME’s AGREE Test Chamber is designed to meet these demanding test conditions with high-precision environmental control. The system provides a temperature range from -70°C to 180°C and a humidity range from 20%RH to 95%RH, fully supporting the cyclic transition requirements from high temperature/high humidity to low temperature environments specified in IEC 60068-2-38.

The temperature fluctuation is controlled within ±0.5°C, while temperature uniformity within the range of -40°C to 100°C can reach ±1.5°C. This ensures high consistency and stability of the environmental conditions throughout the test process, improving the reliability and uniformity of test data.

For aerospace, defense, automotive electronics, and advanced industrial applications, the IEC 60068-2-38 wet cold freezing test plays a critical role in evaluating product environmental adaptability and long-term reliability. SONACME’s AGREE Test Chamber integrates temperature, humidity, and vibration stress into a single platform, supporting both synchronous and sequential test modes, providing a more efficient and standardized solution for environmental reliability verification.
